This section explains how to open an individual or joint trading account with BOOM — including step-by-step instructions, required documents, and verification options.
Simple Account Opening
You can open an Individual or Joint Account easily through our BOOM Mobile Trading App.
Just follow these steps:
Download our BOOM Mobile Trading App from the App Store or Google Play.
Tap "Sign Up" at the bottom of the app screen.
Enter your email address to receive a validation code.
Enter the validation code to start the registration with your basic details such as name and contact information.
Choose whether to open an Individual or Joint Account.
Fill out the application form as guided by the app.
What happens after I fill in the application form?
After completing the application form, you’ll be asked to choose between two application flows:
🔹 Online Flow
This is the fastest and most convenient option.
To proceed with the Online Flow, you must:
have a bank account in Hong Kong, and
be able to transfer a minimum initial deposit of HK$10,000. (Why?)
Here’s what to do:
Register your designated bank account (for all future deposits and withdrawals).
You’ll see our bank details on the screen — make your transfer through your online banking.
Save a copy of the transfer confirmation as proof of deposit.
Upload all required supporting documents (details).
Review and agree to the Agreement and Declaration by checking the boxes.
Sign and submit your application — that’s it!
Once submitted, our team will review your application and notify you once your account is ready to use.
🔹 Paper Flow
If you’re not eligible for the Online Flow, you can go with the Paper Flow.
You’ll first be asked if you:
have a bank account in Hong Kong, and
can issue a personal cheque.
If you would attach a signed personal cheque from your Hong Kong bank account with your BOOM application, the cheque clearing process helps verify your signature and identity. Otherwise, you will need to find a witness who can certify your signature and identification documents. (details)
You will also have an opportunity to register a designated bank account for future fund transfers. Once registered, you will be able to give funds withdrawal instruction online. If you skip this step, you can register later anytime.
Afterwards, you can:
download the PDF copy of your filled application,
print and sign your application,
prepare and attach all required supporting documents (details), and
return the original signed copy to our office by mail or submit it in person — whichever is more convenient for you.
Required Supporting Documents
When applying for an Individual or Joint Account, please prepare the following supporting documents:
🔹 For Online Flow
Identification document(s) (details)
Bank statement of your registered bank account — electronic copy issued within 3 months, printed with your legal name, bank name and bank account number
Proof of residential address (details) — if your residential address is not printed on your bank statement
Proof of deposit — confirmation of bank transfer of minimum HKD 10,000 (or equivalent) from your registered bank account
Specimen signature — a scanned copy of your "specimen signature" signed clearly on a plain white paper with a black or blue pen
🔹 For Paper Flow
🔹 Others (if applicable)
Note: For Joint Account applications, each applicant must provide their own set of applicable supporting documents.
What if I can’t finish the application in one go?
You can save and exit anytime during the application process.
When you're ready to continue, just log in again with your email address and go through the same email verification process.
You can:
Continue filling in your information
Upload additional documents
Sign and submit your application later
For Paper Flow, your PDF copy is available for download using the same email verification process.
Can I open a Joint Account online?
No. Joint Accounts can only be opened through the Paper Flow.
If you’re verifying your identity by cheque, each applicant must provide their own personal cheque bearing their signature.
Can I open a Corporate Account through the app?
No. Corporate Accounts must be opened using a paper form only. (details)
